Dong-bang-shin-ki or Tohoshinki in Japanese are doing their thang as always in the land of the rising sun, cranking out single after single that keeps hitting Oricon chart gold. Their most recent and 28th Japanese single, “Stand By U,” is a soft ballad about a relationship that may have ended, but the feelings of love have remained unchanged. “Stand By U” follows the trend set by their previous single “Doushite Kimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimattandarou” with a drama music video and a MV exclusively featuring the members of TVXQ.
Originally, I wasn’t going to bother with this, despite all the Cassiopeians out there, but once I saw their live performance of “Stand By U” on NHK Eco Song special, I was honestly pretty blown away. This really makes me feel that the raw talent of TVXQ is extremely underutilized by the mainstream Korean music scene who don’t really care for acappella singers and soothing ballads. I don’t mind keeping them in Japan if Rhythm Zone keeps making songs like “Doushite Kimi wo Suki ni natte Shimattandarou” and “Stand By U” for TVXQ.
